Sea Leisure Yachting Group (SLYG), which manufactures charter and cruising catamarans, RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats), and sailboats in Sri Lanka, has expanded its reach in the maritime tourism market by acquiring ownership of the well-established cruising catamaran brand, Ocean Voyager. Previously owned by the Grand Large Yachting group in France, SLYG has already been manufacturing models from the Ocean Voyager range in Sri Lanka for five years under a joint-venture agreement.
According to Pierre Pringiers, Chairman and owner of SLYG: “Due to the synergy between SLYG and Ocean Voyager, it is a natural progression for us to acquire the brand, which fits well into our existing range of charter catamarans, Ceycat and Ocean Diamond, which we have been building in Sri Lanka for the past nine years. We have had a business joint venture agreement with Grand Large for several years, manufacturing certain models in our factories in Sri Lanka. So, we are very familiar with the brand and its offering to the charter boat industry.”
“The key to Ocean Voyager's success over the past decade has been the support and advice provided to charter companies to ensure their continued commercial success. Ocean Voyager supplies both the software and the hardware to charter operators around the world, and we will continue this policy,” Pringiers added. The Ocean Voyager brand includes a range of cruising catamarans from 40' to 78' designed for the growing maritime tourism industry worldwide. More than 60 catamarans have been successfully built and delivered to charter operators in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Asia.
